A to Z Challenge 2020: A is for Andorra

Andorra is the smallest country in Europe. It is located south of France, bordering Spain. It has no airport. While its official currency is the Euro, this tiny country is not part of the European Union. It is over 1,000 years old, and its official language is Catalan.

Fun fact: Andorra is the world's only co-principality. This means that it is ruled by 2 "princes."The first is democratically elected, and the second is appointed by the pope. Both take place outside Andorra.

I won this postcard that you see above, and I am happy that I did because Andorra is just slightly larger than the suburb in which I live. In 2017, it had about 76,000 inhabitants.

Wow - this AtoZ Challenge is real fun. A lot of learning on day 1 itself. I didnt know about this place. Europe remains one of the travel destinations - hopefully someday- will make it to this place.

Interesting! I've never heard of Andorra, but I guess that's not surprising since it's so tiny.

Glad to see you've taken the challenge too.

Hi Lisa! Not sure if you would remember a game called "Trivial Pursuit", but I was a big fan. I have an old Trivial Pursuit coffee mug that I use for a pencil holder on my home office desk. Anyway, the first question on the mug is a geography question "Does Andorra have an airport?" Haha! Good luck with the challenge!!

Did my DNA thing and turns out I have descendants from Andorra. Was very surprised! Now if I can link to that Royalty lineage for my inheritance. lol (I'm pretty sure that is not gonna happen haha) Look forward to your next posts.

Andorra sounds like a good place to live, close to other big countries but still its own entity. Interesting about the 2 Princes.

Well, this is a place I have never heard of... but considering it is the smallest country in Europe, I am not surprised. Nor am I familiar with the language Catalan! You have taught me a great deal in my visit!! Enjoyed reading!
