About Alexandra Heep:

Alexandra Heep is a longtime writer, chronic over-thinker, and recovering content mill survivor. Her work has appeared in literary journals, anthologies, and online platforms where words are still respected. She writes children’s books, health reflections, and the occasional blog post laced with humor and hard-won honesty. After years of illness, detours, and navigating the noise of modern wellness, she returned to writing with the firm belief that stories—like people—don’t have to be perfect to matter. She publishes under multiple pen names and drinks more goat milk than you’d expect.

The Joy of Seeing “The Joy of Painting”

Tom and I have a long-running date with an old friend — the ever-so-soothing Bob Ross. For years, our favorite pastime has been watching The Joy of Painting together, admiring those “happy little trees” while pretending we might someday pick up a brush ourselves.

Then, last December, the universe decided to surprise us. One of the local morning shows Tom watches mentioned a Bob Ross exhibition — actual paintings! — just under an hour away. Naturally, we had to go. And yes, standing in front of those canvases felt like stepping right into one of his mountain-misty worlds.

The photos have been hiding in my blog drafts ever since (my phone storage waved the white flag long ago). But what better day to share them than International Artist Day (October 25)?

So here you go — brushstrokes, nostalgia, and all. Enjoy the calm, my friends. 🎨✨
