I started out with a simple goal:
Write tiny eBooks.
Figure out Kindle Direct Publishing.
Learn margins, tame rogue table of contents, and design covers that didn’t look like I’d taken a graphic design class taught by raccoons.
Just practice — nothing serious. A warm-up lap before diving into a big, important project.
But apparently the universe (and a certain cat) had other ideas.
Enter: Princess Gracie, with her resting glare face and firm opinions about gnomes, humans, and anything that interrupts naps.
Enter: gnomes, with mossy agendas, pocket-sized secrets, and the audacity to take over my writing life.
What started as “just one test eBook” turned into…
ð The Gnome with the Golden Hat
ð Gnome Too: The Gnome Grove Gem
ð And now — yes, I’ve officially lost control — Gnome Tree: Gnome Roots.
That’s three books in what I’m now calling a totally intentional, very well-planned fantasy series (lies). E-books and paperback versions. Because apparently, once gnomes start whispering, they do not shut up. They recruit goats. They mess with porch plants. They form moss councils and send dreams to cats.
Book two brought us goats with agendas, a grove that might be alive, suspiciously aware alpacas, and a gem that pulses like it knows your secrets.
Book three? That one goes deeper. Literally. Roots, smoke, mystery… and yes, more Gracie. Because she insists on narrating and frankly, I’m not brave enough to say no to her.
Was this part of my author blueprint?
Not even close.
Is it infinitely more fun than what I planned?
Absolutely.
Turns out, accidental authoring is kind of my thing. (And apparently now I own a fictional moss grove. There should be a support group for this.)
So, if you're in the mood for:
ðŠī Sly magic
ð Gnome gossip
ðū Dry feline disdain
ðģ And a storyline that started as formatting practice and somehow grew roots…
Come join the adventure. Just watch your flowerbeds. The gnomes are getting bold.
ð Gnomeward Bound
