A to Z Challenge 2020: Q is for Quebec

As most people know, Quebec is part of Canada. Is this province autonomous? Not really. What makes it interesting is that it seems like it is because of its differences from the rest of Canada. All Canadian provinces are different, but Quebec is more so.

For one, almost all of its 8 million residents speak French there mainly, and it is the province's official language. While English and French are the official languages of all of Canada, most people elsewhere in that nation speak English first. Quebec also has its own anthem, but it is considered unofficial.

Fun fact: The well-known, tasty dish of Poutine (french fries with gravy and cheese curds), was invented in Quebec.

Since I don't have a postcard from the only country that starts with "Q" (Qatar), I decided to use Quebec for my Q-post. This postcard is a Postcrossing meetup card. As you can see, the location name is distinctly French.

It is signed by the Postcrossers who attended this official get-together in Quebec. Postcrossing meetings take place in many countries. I have been to a couple of them (in Wisconsin).

A great choice for Q. I struggled with Qatar. Also I love poutine!

I echo NotesinaBook on your choice for Q and loving poutine. Never knew poutine existed until our local Red Robin had it on the menu. I'd love to visit Quebec someday.

We took many vacations to Quebec City to visit for Winter Carnival. It was cold but wonderful. I have many fond memories of the area. Weekends In Maine
