A to Z Challenge 2019: L is for Larimar
Larimar is an interesting gemstone. This blue pectolite can only be found in the Dominican Republic. The colors of this stone look just like the sky and waters on a tropical postcard. It's a soft gem that can fade in prolonged direct sunlight. I have not seen any faceted larimar gems. It's used like turquoise instead.
I don't have any of the beads, but I have one small pendant that I bought at the International Gem and Jewelry Show that comes to Rosemont twice a year. I normally don't spend more than a few dollars on beads and gems, but this was an exception. I can't remember the exact price, but it was around $25 to $30.
I do realize that it has a "flaw" on the one side, but we are all flawed in some way!

I love all the different rocks and stones. Not enough that I have actually learned about them and studied them, but I can get lost in a gemstone museum for hours. As a kid, I collected every pretty rock I saw. Now I live in Vietnam, so the stones I come across are quite different than the ones I saw in America as a kid.
I am at Transformed Nonconformist. I usually write humor pieces, but I am getting serious this month. I'm writing about people who have deeply impacted my life.
I adore that shade of blue. Never come across this stone before and I am always fascinated by gems, both precious and semi-precious. Thanks for sharing
That is not a flaw, it's a mark of distinction!
Gorgeous color in that heretofore unknown gem, too. I'll bet it looks very pretty on.
Happy A-Z'ing!
I know Larimer well being from the Dominican Republic. I have several pieces of. Larimer jewelry, earrings, bracelets and pendants. They are pretty.
This is a beautiful stone. Coolas water and bright as the sky.
