A to Z Challenge: A is for Adult Coloring

I'm participating in the A to Z Blogging Challenge 2017. Every day, except Sundays, there will be a post with a title starting at A and ending at Z. My theme is Adult Coloring (this means that all blogs will have to do with that subject). As it happens, it will also be my entry for A because, well, adult coloring starts with the letter a.

I discovered adult coloring in September 2015. It simply means that I color in books with designs that are more challenging and not aimed at kids. Adult coloring does not mean coloring R or X-rated subjects. Although, you can get those books too.

The blog entries to follow will feature my thoughts on that subject and also explain things that are related to this hobby. I will also include personal observations about behaviors I've noticed in the adult coloring world. I might also introduce a few of my favorite books or pieces I've colored.

If you want to get notified of the subsequent posts for this month (they won't be that long), join The Heep below. Thanks!

I discovered adult coloring fairly recently too, awhile after getting back into my artwork. I have so many wonderful, artist-grade colored pencils, watercolor pencils, and pastels to do it with, though I wouldn't risk using my Sennelier soft oil pastels in a coloring book! There'd be lots of smudging.

Very fun! I have a lot of friends that love to do this. I've been sent a couple cat adult coloring books by them :D I'd love an "adult" adult coloring book, though. lol

There are so many good adult coloring books being published. I like the challenge of the detailed images that the books provide. My daughter (who is in 8th grade) also likes the more complex adult coloring books and sheets that are available. Looking forward to seeing your work during April!

I love adult coloring! It's so relaxing and cathartic. A great break sometimes from writing (which I also love). I'm also doing the A to Z challenge this month: http://mmcnellis.com. I'm posting writing prompts. What's always fascinating to me is how many subjects people can think of that can generate a month's worth of posts. Have fun!

Hello from the A to Z Challenge! I also enjoy coloring :) My favorite adult coloring book is one my husband got for me when I was going through a particularly challenging bout of anxiety. Every page had an uplifting quote on it, in beautiful, nature-themed art. I think the act of coloring and shading helped a lot to re-focus my mind and was quite calming. Bonus- the finished product could be framed and placed around the house to give me a boost when I needed it.
My A to Z theme is how mental health and creativity are intwined. Check it out here: A is for Acceptance
