Z is for Zeppelin Live Australia

Zeppelin Live Australia, like the name suggests, is an Australian band that plays mostly Led Zeppelin's songs. Well, I should say it is THE Australian Led Zeppelin cover band. Oh, and it's not just any cover band. It is fronted by none other than my friend Grant Ventura, who at times reminds me more of Robert Plant than Robert himself, but is an incredibly talented, smart person outside of the band as well. The other members include two Lukes, Luke Bjazevich on bass, Luke Corio on drums and percussion; and Andrew Armstrong on electric and acoustic guitars.

The thing with cover bands is that they often become a caricature of the original musicians. Yet, the audience wants to feel like they are getting the real deal. As such, I am a very picky critic and I generally don't even like covers. Zeppelin Live Australia is different though. They straddle that fine line between giving people what they want - the full Led Zeppelin experience - while showing their extreme individual talents. Think you need a whole lotta talent to pull off Led Zeppelin songs? Very true, but I have seen those who should not attempt them, yet all the guys in Zeppelin Live Australia earned their spots, in my opinion.

Why not give them a like on Facebook?

If you can't make it Down Under to see them (and who can), they are trying to make it to the States. You can make your support known by liking the Get Zeppelin Live to the USA page.

In the meantime, here is what they sound and look like.

All of my Love

Rare that a cover band can pull it off.

Hi Alexandra .. great that you know them - that must be fun. Not being terribly musical - I did take my honorary god-daughter to the Queen cover band here in Eastbourne - before they really took off .. she enjoyed it - aged 10 or so .. and it was fun being there with the kids!!

Congratulations on Z for Zed Zeppelin .. well almost could be! Cheers to you down under .. Hilary

Hilary,

I am in the USA and have never seen them either. I know Grant and his band from Facebook only, but he is still a good friend.
