Tweeting is not Just for Birds

I am going to let the cat out of the bag without further ado: My cat, Princess Gracie, is now on Twitter.  No, I did not party with Charlie Sheen or had leprechauns slip me something into my herbal tea (I think).  Let me explain:

Part of the idea comes from my friend Conny.  We both have talkative cats and she made the innocent comment that they could be on Twitter.  That same day, I received a tweet from Elvis Presley via a retweet from someone on my contact list.  I figured if Elvis can tweet, so can my cat.

So today I signed up my cat.  Alas, I was not the only one who had this idea.  While using the Twitter search function, I found out that Garfield has an account.  I was disappointed however that Morris, the 9 Lives cat, was not on there.

Then I typed in 9 lives to see if Morris showed up there, but instead President Obama, Dr. Oz, and Oprah showed up in the top ten suggestions.  I tried recreating that search on my twitter account, but the results did not duplicate.  Not sure what I did, but that was strange.  I did find an account there where the bio said “I am the saddest cat ever.” How horrible, I should have befriended him or her, but moved away from the page before I could.

Seriously, why make an account for my cat?  Well, why not? I can use it to promote cat articles written by my friends and me, as well as bring awareness to cat nutrition.  Why not use my regular account?  Even with only slightly over 100 users I find it’s pretty clogged up.  Also, it will be fun to see if Princess Gracie can get more followers than I – or even attract any at all.  So, my cat is now tweeting in addition to meowing.  Follow her @GraciePurrs (Princess Gracie was taken).
