Today was somewhat a bitter-sweet day. We ate our first home-grown bell pepper. What is the big deal? Well, despite starting almost a dozen plants, we only have five bell peppers. And only one, the one we ate today, reached a decent size. It's totally put to shame by the farmers market peppers in size.
Oh, but the taste. It was very sweet and intensely flavored. No wonder, it was on the vine a very long time. We picked it finally after about seven weeks because we did not want anything to happen to it. It was only partially red, but turned a nice crimson in the house.
So, what did we make with it? Well, I did not want the taste to get lost, so we simply grilled it with some purple potatoes. (In a foil packet on the grill).
I also made a couple of things that I am freezing for future use. Curious as to what they are? Well, then read on!
Oh, and in case you are new and have not followed this series: I am participating in a whole foods study for a friend. We are to substitute a whole food for a refined/processed food each day. My commitment was to go soda-free, but we are having fun along the way experimenting with other foods and ingredients.
