I have been fascinated with Greenland for a long time, for as long as I can remember. I always wondered why they named it that because it's not green at all, it is white from all the snow. Thanks to the Internet search engine, I now know that its name originates from a Scandinavian word, and that the parts that don't have glaciers and snow are green in the summer.
About 56,000 people live on this largest island in the world. There are no roads connecting communities in Greenland. You have to walk, sled, or travel by air or ship if you want to leave your neighborhood. Rental cars are available on a limited basis for local exploration. If you want to go there on vacation, you have to come in from Denmark or Iceland, and it's not cheap.
Fun fact: While the temperature rarely breaks 50 F (10 C), Greenland has some of the best air quality in the world.
I received this postcard through a trade on Facebook. The person sent it to the post office there, and they sent it to me so that I would have the Greenland cancellation.

Greenland is intriguing although I had a friend whose father was station there in the service and he was not a fan. Weekends In Maine
